New Order, Corgan Ready

“We’ve got Billy Corgan playing with us, we’re doing a lot of old stuff, new songs that nobody knows, and we’re reaching a lot of young people,” New Order bassist Peter Hook says. “It’s got all the recipe for complete disaster, to be honest.” It’s a week before he and reunited band mates Bernard Sumner (vocals) and Stephen Morris (drums), as well as keyboardist Gillian Gilbert and guest guitarist Corgan, join up with Moby’s Area: One tour for a few dates in the U.S. (beginning Tuesday, July 31st in Mountainview, California). Radiohead: Meeting People Finally Is Easy

On their first U.S. jaunt in three years, Radiohead have overcome their fears of touring the States by coming to terms with their popularity and acclaim. With last year’s Kid A and the recently released Amnesiac debuting at #1 and #2, respectively, and selling more than a million copies combined, according to SoundScan… well, to quote the title of the film documenting the band’s grueling tour supporting their third album, 1997’s OK Computer, meeting people really is easy. “I really didn’t think I could deal with it at all,” frontman Thom Yorke said after the band’s performance at the Red… Read more »

Reconciled TLC Recording New Album, Solo Projects

Being a member of TLC means walking a fine line between love and… dislike. The trio’s bickering has been well-documented – enough so that many believed their most recent album, 1999’s Fan Mail, would be their last. The word that Chilli and Left Eye were working on solo albums, while T-Boz was raising a family with her hoo-bangin’ husband Mack 10, all but sealed the threesome’s demise for many. As Chilli tells it, though, while it may be hard for the crazy, sexy and cool trio to live with each other sometimes, it’s even tougher for them to live apart.… Read more »

Aaron Carter Hits Road With A*Teens

He beat Shaq, and now he’s taking on the rest of the country. Sweden’s A*Teens will open the shows, which will hit amphitheaters and arenas from the West Coast to the East. Aaron, the male Carter for those who find older brother Nick too wizened for their tastes, is riding on the success of his single, “That’s How I Beat Shaq,” which he performed at Nickelodeon’s… Read more »

INXS, Midnight Oil, Men At Work To Tour U.S.

In a triple bill of Australian rock heavyweights that would have filled arenas in 1988, INXS, Midnight Oil, and Men At Work will team for a month-long North American tour this summer. The jaunt, with INXS and Midnight Oil alternating in the closing spot each night, begins May 28 in Atlanta and wraps June 27 in Las Vegas. INXS will be fronted by Jon Stevens, replacing Michael Hutchence, who committed suicide in late 1997.
