On the October 21 festival date, Rise Against performed “Swing Life Away” from 2004’s Siren Song Of The Counter-Culture with some help from Yellowcard‘s William Ryan Key. Avril Lavigne may not have been listed as being on the When We Were Young lineup, but the Goodbye Lullaby singer surprised fans on the October 21 date of the festival. During All Time Low’s set on the Pink stage, Lavigne popped out to sing her mega-hit “Sk8er Boi” from 2002’s Let Go. Goldfinger took to the When We Were Young Fest Stripe stage to play all the hits, including their beloved ska hit “Superman,” but this time, with a special guest. Retired professional skateboarder Tony Hawk came onstage to help John Feldmann with some vocals for the song.
