Music publishers want royalties for iTunes 30 second samples


Songwriters, composers, and music publishers are making preparations to one day collect performance fees from Apple and other e-tailers for not just traditional music downloads but for downloads of films and TV shows as well. Those downloads contain music after all. These groups even want compensation for iTunes’ 30-second song samples. Red Hot Chili Peppers feel ‘Major Enthusiasm’ heading into studio


While the Red Hot Chili Peppers slumbered, the band’s members have been keeping busy these last couple of years, what with drummer Chad Smith joining all-star group Chickenfoot, frontman Anthony Kiedis developing a series for HBO and bassist Flea enrolling at USC to study music theory. But things are about to change in Pepperland. Travis Barker finally unveiled the full version of his much-hyped, gravity-defying, head-spinning drum solo Tuesday night during Blink-182’s show at General Motors Place in Vancouver, British Columbia.
