Blink's influence resonates in rock community

In between the raunchy humor and nudity, Blink-182 managed to make a huge impact on other bands and devoted fans. Perhaps without even knowing it – and definitely without ever really trying – Blink-182 have somehow become one of the most influential bands of the past 20 years. This might seem like a bit of a stretch. After all, aren’t these the same guys with the discography of di– jokes? The ones who gave their albums titles like “Enema of the State or Take Off Your Pants and Jacket?” Well, yes. But they’re also the same guys who featured Robert… Read more »

Blink-182 confirms reunion on Grammy stage

It’s official: With an introduction of “together again,” Blink-182 confirmed that they are back in the Blink business at the Grammy Awards Sunday night (February 8) when they appeared onstage together for the first time in four years. Emerging to sounds of their 1999 hit “What’s My Age Again,” bassist Mark Hoppus, drummer Travis Barker – wearing a sling on his injured left arm – and estranged guitarist Tom DeLonge walked out together, with Hoppus joking, “Isn’t it great to see the Jonas Brothers and Stevie Wonder back together again?” after the unlikely pairing performed a medley of the Bros’… Read more »

Another Mandy Moore and DJ AM breakup

The roller-coaster romance of Mandy Moore and DJ AM has hit the brakes. The two, who reportedly rekindled their cozy ways after AM’s tragic plane crash, are once again kaput, according to celeb tab Life & Style. But was there even enough going on for a breakup to happen? A source tells me the reunion was never as hot and heavy as the first go-round. “They were never exclusive,” the source says. “AM and Mandy were always just having fun and hanging out.” The music man–real name Adam Goldstein–is now reportedly dating 22-year-old American Apparel model Hayley Wood, who lists… Read more »

DJ AM files lawsuit in South Carolina plane crash

A celebrity disc jockey who survived a fiery Learjet crash in South Carolina has sued several companies and the estates of the plane’s pilots. Adam Goldstein, known as DJ AM, filed his complaint for negligence and breach of contract Tuesday in Los Angeles Superior Court. Goldstein and punk rocker Travis Barker, who has also sued the companies, were the sole survivors of the Sept. 19 crash. Barker sued on behalf of the family of his bodyguard, Charles Still, and the widow of Barker’s assistant, Chris Baker, filed her own lawsuit earlier this month. Goldstein and Barker were seriously burned escaping… Read more »

Blink-182 Reunion in the Cards?

Last week, at the mtvU Woodie Awards, former Blink-182er (and current member of +44) Mark Hoppus spoke about his best friend and bandmate Travis Barker, who is recovering from second-and-third degree burns suffered in a September 19 plane crash that killed four people and seriously injured DJ AM. And this week, Hoppus kept on talking – er, blogging – only this time it wasn’t just about about Barker, but former Blink bandmate Tom DeLonge, too. Seems that, for the first time since Blink went on “indefinite hiatus” in February 2005, all three members have been spending time together … which,… Read more »

DJ AM was back on the decks for the first time since surviving a fiery plane crash. The visibly scarred celebrity disc jockey, whose real name is Adam Goldstein, joined Jay-Z at a special concert Wednesday celebrating the reopening of the Hollywood Palladium, the historic venue which once hosted the likes of Frank Sinatra, “The Lawrence Welk Show,” Led Zeppelin and the Emmy Awards on its more than 11,000-square-foot circular wooden floor. The concert was 35-year-old DJ AM’s first performance since surviving a Sept. 19 plane crash with former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker at the main airport in Columbia, S.C.… Read more »

Officer: Ex-Blink 182 Drummer in Intense Pain

One of the first responders to a fiery South Carolina plane crash said Wednesday that a pair of musicians escaped the flaming wreckage by sliding down the wing. “They said the plane went down. They didn’t say how or if they knew,” said Lt. Jason Shumpert of the South Congaree Police Department. “Once it went down, they were able to slide down the wing of the plane, and they jumped on each other to put fires on each other out and rolled around on the ground.” Shumpert said he didn’t know until later that the two badly burned men were… Read more »

Former Blink-182 bassist sues over bad investment

Former Blink-182 bassist Mark Hoppus sued a father-and-son business Monday, alleging they pocketed his investment in a venture to install automated checkout machines at McDonald’s restaurants. The lawsuit in San Diego Superior Court says Ed and Jeff Mitchell lined their pockets “to the tune of over $1.5 million.” It alleges their company – Missicom LLC of San Diego – does not have any contracts to install the machines to take orders and collect payments at McDonald’s or anywhere else. Hoppus, currently a member of the pop-punk band Plus-44, invested $600,000 in Missicom in October 2003, according to the complaint. The… Read more »

Blink-182 rocker sues Rockstar Beverages

Former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker sued the Rockstar energy drink company Wednesday, accusing it of wrongfully using his picture. The Superior Court lawsuit said the Rockstar Web site published a photo of Barker “holding a can of one of Rockstar’s beverages, and identifying him and his endorsement by name” without his consent. The lawsuit claims invasion of privacy, unfair competition and misappropriating his likeness to promote the product. Barker is “a prominent figure in the rock music world,” according to the lawsuit, which seeks unspecified punitive and statutory damages. Calls to the Rockstar Beverage Corp. were not immediately returned Wednesday.… Read more »
