The Island Def Jam Music Group has signed multi-platinum recording artist, Everlast, it was announced today. Everlast is currently in the studio working on his third studio album (Title: TBD) tentatively set for an early 2004 release. The Deftones were forced by their record label, Maverick Records, to remove 49 live bootleg recordings from their website. Singer Chino Moreno told MTV.com, “I think Maverick got mad because they own all that music…it was our idea to put it up there, but I think we were maybe supposed to ask permission or something.” The bootlegs, recorded at various shows in 1992, 1995, and 2000, were available for free downloading at the site, but abruptly disappeared about three weeks ago. Ten bands have been announced to play the fall edition of the legendary HFStival. Staind, Rancid, O.A.R., Deftones, Citizen Cope, Thrice, Eve 6, Rooney, Yellowcard and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club have been confirmed to play the fall edition of HFStival on October 4 at RFK Stadium in Washington DC. The Warped Tour kicked off in Boise, Idaho at the Idaho Center Amphitheater on Thursday (June 19), playing to 10,000 fans. The festival opened at noon with a mad rush of vendors and fans to claim spots, akin to the Oklahoma land rush. The performances began at 12:30 p.m. with 2 Cents on the mainstage, and continued through closing act Face To Face, which went on at about 10:00 pm. When radio programmers have hammered the final nail in the coffin of the Used’s “Buried Myself Alive,” the band will move on to “Blue and Yellow,” the fourth single from its self-titled album. The track is the group’s most melancholy and melodic. Twelve hours, four stages and more than 40 bands marked the end of the three-day Skate and Surf Festival on Sunday. Held at the Asbury Park Convention Hall, the second installment of the now annual event featured performances from Bouncing Souls, Face to Face and the Descendents, among many others.
