I am so stoked that I was able to speak with Dustin Kensrue from one of the better bands to have graced this scene and planet, THRICE.

This morning, Skate and Surf Fest announced that Thrice, Hot Rod Circuit, Fireworks, Cloud Nothings, Defeater, and more have been announced for the two day festival in New Jersey on May 16th and 17th. You can purchase tickets through the festival’s website, and check out the full lineup below. This announcement only makes the festival more appealing by adding onto the already awesome lineup including Acceptance, The Gaslight Anthem, and The Wonder Years. It’s not going to be one to miss this year, and they’re not even done announcing bands yet. Be sure to check back for the next round… Read more »
A band that I’ve seen for years – since their early tours with Midtown, to their tour with Coheed and also Thursday… have announced that they are taking a break. Here’s me trying to dig the truth out about why they are!
Post hardcore legends Thrice, who announced their indefinite hiatus this past November, will be heading out across North America this spring to say goodbye one last time.
Dustin Kensrue hasn’t been getting much sleep lately. The release of his debut solo album, Please Come Home, is right around the corner, and his month-old daughter has been doing her best to keep him up too. Oh, and there’s that little project he’s been working on with Thrice, the band he’s fronted since 1998: a collection of 25 songs, spread across four CDs that will be known collectively as The Elements. Thrice, Kensrue said, are about halfway through the writing and recording of The Elements, which is bound to be one of the most ambitious studio efforts in recent… Read more »
In the grand scheme of things – or in the recording industry, for that matter – six years isn’t exactly a long time. But for the guys in Thrice, who just marked their sixth year as a band, the occasion meant only one thing: time for the career retrospective! So they’re releasing “If We Could Only See Us Now,” a DVD spanning their just-a-little-longer-than-half-a-decade-long career. It might seem like a bit of overkill for a band that just two years ago was still releasing albums on tiny indie labels, but lead singer Dustin Kensrue sees it a little differently. “We… Read more »

Kicking off in Scranton, PA on October 17th, Island Records recording artists, Thrice and Thursday join forces for a full scale U.S. tour. This pairing of incredible bands will give fans the opportunity to experience the unbridled energy and emotionally charged sounds of both artists. Thursday and Thrice are representative of a growing new musical scene. As the New York Times Magazine recently wrote, “What do you get when you mix crashing guitars, wrenchingly confessional lyrics and vocals that can peel paint? The new poetics of suburban living.” This two month tour will be sponsored by MTV2 and Alternative Press.… Read more »
The backstage area of this year’s Vans Warped Tour often resembled a punk-rock frat party, according to Thrice frontman Dustin Kensrue. There was plenty of partying and more than a few juvenile practical jokes perpetrated by the bands and their crews. Such situations can be flat-out dangerous, and sometimes injuries ensue. A few weeks ago, Thrice drummer Riley Breckenridge damaged his back while reaching under the band’s bus. Was he looking for water balloons filled with sour milk to throw at the members of Pennywise? Nope. He was trying to remove his suitcase from the storage compartment, and in the… Read more »
