Arista Shakeup Picks Up Steam

Arista Records, home to such acts as OutKast, Dido and Avril Lavigne, is in the process of being restructured, sources said Tuesday. Many Arista artists are being moved to Bertelsmann Music Group (BMG) corporate siblings Jive Records, RCA Records and J Records, sources said. Arista will, however, remain a label complete with some artists, an A&R team, marketing and promotions staff, sources said. A spokesman for closely held BMG declined to comment on the moves at Arista but in a statement said: “BMG is in the… Read more »

Ozzy Osbourne Denied Hometown Honor

Ozzy Osbourne will not receive the Freedom Of Birmingham, the highest honor that can be awarded to a citizen of the British city, according to the icbirmingham.co.uk website. But other councillors shot the idea down, saying they wouldn’t vote for the heavy metal legend. Councillor Coun John Hemming said, “Frankly, the idea of Osborne as a role model is laughable. I can’t see many parents wanting their… Read more »

Pink Teams With Transplants, Good Charlotte Unplug For Weenie Roast – Review

Liam Lynch was onstage about two minutes total, yet it was his song that best summed up Saturday’s 11-hour KROQ Weenie Roast. It was truly the “United States of Whatever.” As in, whatever goes. Good Charlotte unplugged, Pink got the party started with the Transplants, and Jane’s Addiction played unannounced, proving nothing was off-limits at the trend-setting radio station’s 11th annual summer festival. The lineup itself was a little bit of whatever, and certainly more diverse than last year’s “diet Ozzfest,” as Jack Osbourne called it. All three stages showcased a variety of bands, although it was surprisingly the main… Read more »

The sticky issue of payment had not been resolved by the last Russian deadline of Friday (August 30), and on Tuesday (September 3), the Russian Space Agency pulled Bass off his training regiment in Star City. To make matters seem more dire, spokespeople for… Read more »
