Ike Turner, whose role as one of rock’s critical architects was overshadowed by his ogrelike image as the man who brutally abused former wife Tina Turner, died Wednesday at his home in suburban San Diego. He was 76. Turner died at his San Marcos home, Scott M. Hanover of Thrill Entertainment Group, which managed Turner’s career, told There was no immediate word on the cause of death, which was first reported by celebrity Web site TMZ.com. Chaotic rock star Pete Doherty has said he will move in with Shane McGowan after his most recent stint in rehab. The Babyshambles frontman is undergoing yet another legally enforced attempt to kick his addictions to heroin and crack cocaine. When he comes out of rehab, however, he will have nowhere to live and will therefore move in with the wild-living Pogues singer Shane McGowan above North London rock ‘n’ roll haunt the Boogaloo Bar. Babyshambles’ new album Shotters Nation, which has received positive reviews, will be released in the U.K. on October 1.

Hilly Kristal, the founder of New York punk rock club CBGB, which helped make the Ramones, Blondie and Talking Heads stars, has died at age 75, his daughter said on Wednesday. Kristal died on Tuesday from complications of lung cancer, his daughter, Lisa Kristal Burgman, said. You’d think that by this point – 15 years into their career – people would know that SoCal punkers Guttermouth are all about the tongue-in-cheek fun. They are called “Guttermouth” after all. But that isn’t the case. Every time the band try to joke about anything it backfires. New York – It’s been a stunning year for Brian Wilson. The former Beach Boy released his rerecording of the group’s “SMiLE” album to critical acclaim, and staged a worldwide tour chock-full of standing ovations. The original “SMiLE,” recorded more than 37 years ago, was never released officially. The Nonesuch Records release bowed at No. 13 on The Billboard 200. Los Angeles – Motley Crue, the hard-living Los Angeles heavy metal band that symbolized rock’n’roll excess in the 1980s, is reuniting for a world tour beginning next February in Florida, it announced on Monday. The foursome’s original members last played together six years ago, when drummer Tommy Lee – embroiled in domestic difficulties with then-wife Pamela Anderson – quit to form a short-lived side project.
