As their debut album, Sinner, screams up the Billboard albums chart and its first single, “Bodies,” continues on a path toward becoming hard rock’s summer anthem, Drowning Pool seem to have a lock on the title of Ozzfest’s breakout band. Members of Slipknot, Agnostic Front, Sepultura, Hatebreed, Skarhead and Pete Steele of Type O Negative, Sen-Dog of Cypress Hill, and Phillip Anselmo of Pantera are featured on Biohazard ‘s new album. The metal/hardcore/hip-hop group will release its sixth studio LP, the thirteen-track Uncivilization, September 11th on Sanctuary Records. The band’s lineup currently consists of guitarist/vocalist Billy Graziadei, vocalist/bassist Evan Seinfeld, drummer Danny Schuler and guitarist Leo Curley. Disturbed is finding some new challenges now that it has moved from its spot as the OzzFest second-stage headliner to a role as support act on the main stage. The group made the switch after an estimated 20,000 fans swarmed the second stage on the tour’s opening day in Disturbed’s hometown of Chicago last month (June 8). It was heavy metal heaven Saturday at the sun-baked Blockbuster Bowl as an estimated 50,000-plus headbangers took in this year’s 12-hour-long edition of OzzFest, featuring a strong roster of young rock outfits and headlined by the granddaddy of metal bands, Black Sabbath. Capitol recording group OTEP, the provocative Los Angeles-based band whose signing to the label was celebrated with an A-list midnight hour convocation at the Viper Room last month, will join this summer’s all-star OzzFest 2001 lineup, featuring headliners Black Sabbath, Marilyn Manson, Slipknot, Papa Roach, Linkin Park, and Crazytown.
