As if a live CD of every show on their current tour weren’t enough, Pearl Jam have begun selling a live DVD of a December club gig at the Showbox Theater in Seattle. “Live at the Showbox” is available only on the band’s official Web site and at their concerts and features the full set from a December 6 warm-up for the band’s current world tour. New Apple Service Off To Quick Start – 275,000 Tracks in 18 hours


Observers are calling the launch of Apple Computer’s digital music service the iTunes Music Store an overwhelming success, Billboard Bulletin reports. The service, which went live Monday, sold an estimated 275,000 tracks at 99 cents apiece in its first 18 hours, according to major-label sources. All songs – including exclusive material and videos from U2, Eminem, Sheryl Crow, Bob Dylan, Sting, and others – can be previewed for free as 30-second samples. Avril Lavigne, Korn, Limp Bizkit and Sum 41 are the first batch of those slated to pay tribute to Metallica in “mtvICON: Metallica,” the third installment in MTV’s annual series. A concerned parent’s call alerted Island Record staff to the online antics of Autopilot Off’s webmaster, Josh Stern. Apparently, Mr. Stern was observed on the band’s webcam having sex with a large, stuffed SpongeBob doll. Sprint to Offer Rhapsody Music Service


Sprint Corp. on Wednesday said it would offer Listen.com’s Rhapsody music subscription services to its broadband customers, joining a growing list of such providers to provide music services. Sprint also said it would offer its PCS wireless customers Rhapsody 411, a music information service, including album reviews, artist recommendations, album art and full-color artist photos directly from their phones. Warner Music Unit Sets Restructuring


Warner Music Group’s WEA distribution arm is migrating from its longtime home in Burbank to New York as part of a major restructuring that will consolidate many regional offices and result in an unspecified number of staff cutbacks. Limp Bizkit front man Fred Durst settled a $5 million battery lawsuit filed by a former lighting technician who claimed he hit her and broke her nose during the “Anger Management” tour, their lawyers confirmed Tuesday.
