Marilyn Manson Court Date Moved To December

Marilyn Manson is hoping that Pearl Harbor Day doesn’t lead to an ambush for him in Michigan courts. The shock rocker’s hearing on charges of criminal sexual conduct and assault-and-battery, which were scheduled to be heard on Friday (November 9), has been moved to the morning of December 7 at the request of his attorneys. Judge Gerald E. McNally of the 52nd District Court in Clarkston, Michigan will hear the case. Manson is free on $25,000 personal bail after a September 21 arraignment at the court. Rap-rock quintet 311 ended its two-month U.S. tour on a high note with a festive homecoming performance at the sold-out Universal on Halloween. Band members hit the stage in various costumes – a firefighter, G.I. Joe, a bearded wizard, a futuristic Uncle Sam, an armored monster – and launched into more than 90 minutes of tracks from all six of their studio albums, with extra emphasis on “From Chaos” (Volcano/Jive), the band’s most recent effort. The 1997 alt-radio hit “Beautiful Disaster,” featuring Nick Hexum and Tim Mahoney on dueling harmonic guitars, was a crowdpleasing opener, followed by the party-minded “Freak… Read more »

Matthews Fights Hunger

The September 11th terrorist attacks pulled dozens of high-profile musicians into spirited rounds of fundraising and flag waving. The opening show was suitably eclectic, featuring Daniel Lanois, Philip Glass, the Blind Boys of Alabama, Emmylou Harris and Dave Matthews. After four smaller shows during the week – featuring Joe Strummer, the Wallflowers, Heart and others – next Monday’s grand finale boasts R.E.M., Pearl Jam and Alanis Morissette, with Gwyneth Paltrow as the… Read more »
