Linkin Park, No Doubt Songs Banned From 'American Idol' Auditions


The third season of American Idol kicked off this week on FOX with the final auditions show airing Wednesday (January 21) at 8 p.m. ET. The three opening shows take a behind-the-scenes look at the good, the bad, and the really, really bad from auditions in New York, Atlanta and Houston. Michael Jackson's Troubled 9/11 Single Now A Charity Download


Two years after its inception, Michael Jackson’s all-star charity single, “What More Can I Give,” is finally giving to someone. The song is now being offered as a paid download ($2 a pop) via the Web sites www.whatmorecanigive.com and www.musicforgiving.com. A portion of the proceeds from the download fee go to various children’s charities, including Oneness, Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation, and the International Child Art Foundation, each of which support arts programs to eliminate racism, increase education and connect children throughout the world, respectively. The Island Def Jam Music Group has signed multi-platinum recording artist, Everlast, it was announced today. Everlast is currently in the studio working on his third studio album (Title: TBD) tentatively set for an early 2004 release. Mottola Gets Back in the Act


The former music exec, who stepped down as head honcho at Sony Music in January, has teamed up with Universal Music Group to head up a modern-day version of a retro record label. The mastermind behind the careers of Mariah Carey, Celine Dion and Jennifer Lopez will run Casablanca Records, a label founded by Neil Bogart that had its heyday in 1970s with acts like KISS, Donna Summer and the Village People. Eminem Smashes 'Source' Award During Summer Jam Performance


Eminem, the headliner of Summer Jam 10, took time on stage to show his anger toward the Source magazine. During a break in his performance on Tuesday (June 3) at Giants Stadium, Eminem hurled his 2000 Source Award for Lyricist Of The Year to the ground.
