Fred Durst must have been having a really bad day when the Summer Sanitarium tour stopped outside Chicago Saturday. The Chicago Sun-Times describes Durst as having a tantrum on stage and ending Limp Bizkit’s set after just 20 minutes. The report says heckling fans throwing garbage gave Durst a rough reception. At first, Durst encouraged the abuse, then offered to fight anyone within earshot while yelling curses and sexual putdowns. Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington must have realized lately that a hospital is somewhere he belongs. Back in May, the ill-fated screamer was diagnosed with a crippling back and stomach ailment that forced the band to cancel 12 European shows. Folks who have checked into this year’s Summer Sanitarium have noted how all the opening bands are singing praises to Metallica. Limp Bizkit even cover “(Welcome Home) Sanitarium” and flash the words “Metallica is the sh-” onscreen during their set. Britney Spears said in a candid interview with the U.K. tabloid the Sun that none of the songs that will be on her upcoming album will have anything to do with her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake or their break-up. But the alternametal band’s frontman has been confined to a Los Angeles-area hospital since Friday battling a mystery malady, the group’s label has announced.
