Avril Lavigne Uses Own Voice To Mezmorize Crowd – Review

Recently boasting about how she always sings live, Avril Lavigne had to make good on her claims and put Ashlee Simpson, in her place. After all, some of Lavigne’s past performances have been less than on-key. Quite expertly, Napanee’s pint-sized hero delivered the vocal goods, save for her “Complicated” encore in which she still struggled with the verses’ low notes. But otherwise, the nearly packed house at the Hanger had someone worth screaming for (ear-deafeningly, of course). Lavigne’s mall-punk compadres from Ajax, Not By Choice, riled up the tykes – a group of mostly parental accompanied 10 to 17 year… Read more »

iTunes Close To Indie Deal

Independent record labels are on the verge of striking an agreement with Apple Computer that will allow its iTunes music service to sell tracks by artists such as the White Stripes and Basement Jaxx across Europe. The new deal is expected to ease the concerns of independent record labels that they would be locked into long-term contracts at fixed prices. The… Read more »

Sum 41 And KISS's Gene Simmons Embrace Christianity

Are Sum 41 turning into churchies? Our favourite goons from Ajax, ON have been studying up on Christian rock as of late – but don’t expect to see them strutting around wearing studded WWJD wristbands any time soon. Deryck, Brown Sound, Cone and Steve-O haven’t become born-again Christians, they just play them on TV – specifically on a new episode of King Of The Hill. All four Sum boys have donated their voices to the November 9 episode of Fox’s King Of The Hill, titled Reborn To Be Wild. Sum 41 play a gang of Christian youths who express their… Read more »
