Eminem topped the fan-voted MTV Europe Music Awards Thursday night (Nov. 14) at Barcelona’s Palau Sant Jordi, with three honors. The rapper/actor took trophies for best album for his Shady/Interscope set “The Eminem Show,” best hip-hop artist, and best male, the latter delivered by actor Pierce Brosnan. Kylie Minogue, Linkin Park, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers each won two awards. Los Angeles rap-rockers Crazy Town return November 12 with Darkhorse, the follow-up to the band’s 2000 multi-platinum Columbia debut, The Gift of Game, The first single from the sophomore set, “Drowning,” has already been serviced to radio, with a video directed by Brendan and Emmett Malloy, whose credits include clips for Foo Fighters, Blink-182, 311, and the Used. Portions of the last recorded Nirvana track surfaced online this week, bringing a new twist to the legal debate between Courtney Love and Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic. Garage-rock band The Strokes, riding high in the music charts on both sides of the Atlantic, are to headline the 2002 Reading and Leeds festivals, organizers announced on Tuesday. While their new album remains months away, Queens of the Stone Age are preparing to hit the highway to test drive some new material, and they’re taking Dave Grohl along for the ride. Cult rock duo Ween will put off the recording of its next studio album in favor of a summer North American tour. Dates begin Friday (April 19) in Asheville, N.C., and are booked through a June 23 appearance at the Bonnaroo Festival in Manchester, Tenn.
