There’s no doubt that Cash Money Records has solidified its status as one of hip-hop’s most successful labels. With such acts as the Hot Boys, Juvenile and Birdman laying the foundation, Cash Money has since powered up a franchise that includes hot upstarts Drake and Nicki Minaj through its Young Money imprint.
If you follow the entertainment business at all, you’re probably well aware of “Hollywood accounting,” whereby very, very, very few entertainment products are technically “profitable,” even as they earn studios millions of dollars. The memo on waning Jonas Brothers mania apparently has yet to reach Lima, Peru. Riot police were called to the city’s oceanfront Marriott Hotel Sunday when more than 1,000 fans took to the streets to form a tearful, shrieking and otherwise order-be-damned welcome wagon for the Jonas Brothers. “There are thousands of fans outside the hotel,” Kevin, Nick and Joe wrote on their website. “The police were called in to control the crowd… can’t wait to meet everyone!” The feeling was apparently mutual. “We just woke up to the sounds of fans screaming downstairs outside of our hotel,” the siblings… Read more »

LOS ANGELES (Billboard) — Nearly two weeks after the premiere of Disney’s “Jonas Brothers: The 3-D Concert” film, the sibling music act has unveiled dates for a world tour. The 44-date North American leg begins June 20 at the Dallas Cowboys New Stadium in Texas and wraps Aug. 31 at the Scotiabank Place in Ottawa. Before the North American arena dates, the Jonas Brothers World Tour 2009 will play a handful of dates in South America in mid-May and head to the United Kingdom and Europe in early June.
