About this time last year, an EP by a band called The Marble Index came into the Chart office. Now, usually we don’t put too much trust in bands that are completely unknown to us, but when we stuck the EP on our office stereo, every single Chart editor commented on how great it was. Aerosmith has announced a 40-city North American tour in support of their 14th studio album, Honkin’ On Bobo. Scheduled to kick off in the US in March 2004, the tour will hit cities in both the US and Canada through June. Paul Simon has signed a worldwide agreement with Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) that covers his catalog and future work. The multi-year deal, which went into effect Jan. 1, calls for UMPG to administer his catalog and new songs worldwide except in North America, where the material will continue to be handled by Paul Simon Music. Additionally, UMPG will represent Simon’s work globally, including the U.S. and Canada, for synchronization opportunities in TV, film and advertising. Simon was previously with Warner/Chappell.
