This week I talk to long time friend and bass player Hunter Burgan from the band AFI, we talk about how he got started in music, how we met, and how my band in high school opened for AFI, and at the time that was the biggest show I had ever played. We talk briefly how I also played drums in his side project Hunter Revenge and we learn what he’s been up to with his musical endeavors.
This week I have singer/songwriter Rev from the band The Drowns, he stared the punk band with my old middle school friend and drummer Jake Margolis (Madcap/Everclear) and they’ve been hitting it hard ever since. I learn Rev’s story about how he came up in music and where his band is heading, and we exchange old road stories, as well as talk about their new album that just came out.
Electro-rockers The Anix and Julien-K are back with their new single, “CRAWL.” The collaboration brings back dark wave and electronica ‘90s energy missing in the music scene. The music video is a vintage glitch-mob fever dream, inspiring your best techno-goth dance moves. The neon pink hues and strobes, along with distorted yet alluring vocals, set the stage for the music video. Even with powerhouse frontman Chester Bennington gone, it hasn’t stopped Linkin Park from releasing previously recorded tracks. “Friendly Fire” was originally a part of the acts “One More Light” sessions. This week I have long time friend and fellow guitar player/drummer Brandon Davis from bands such as: Inspirit, The Fever 333, he’s also been in bands Vanna, Lions Lions, Therefore I Am. He’s no stranger to the Boston Hardcore music scene and I get to learn all about Brandon and his endeavors, we also talk about a skatepark that he owns, as well as how we met. Kill The Lights just shared their final single “Sleep With The Devil” from their forthcoming sophomore record, Death Melodies, out on March 8 via Fearless Records. With their farewell shows underway, the remaining three members of Issues—Skyler Acord, Josh Manuel, and AJ Rebollo—joined by The Home Team’s vocalist, Brian Butcher, have been delivering a cathartic adieu to their dedicated fanbase for all of the support they’ve shown the storied group throughout their careers.
