Quiet Riot Calls It Quits?


Stop the presses: ’80s metal band Quiet Riot has apparently called it quits after more than 20 years. Fans surfing to the band’s website, quietriotforce.com, were undoubtedly crushed to find the following message: “Thank you for 20 years of rock and roll. Goodbye, Quiet Riot.” Drummer Frankie Banali was contacted for confirmation, and he responded with a cryptic message of his own: “I can only confirm that Quiet Riot with members Kevin DuBrow, (bassist) Rudy Sarzo, (guitarist) Carlos Cavazo, and myself has ceased to exist and further dates will not be performed.” Quiet Riot was formed in 1975 by lead… Read more »

P!nk's New Album, Try This, in Stores November 11th


Arista recording artist P!nk is in the final stages of completing her hotly expected third album, entitled TRY THIS – in stores November 11th, it was announced today by Antonio “L.A.” Reid, president and CEO, Arista Records. The first single (and opening track) on TRY THIS will be “Trouble,” co-written by P!nk with Tim Armstrong (of alt-rock heroes Rancid), who also produced the track. Avril Lavigne's 'World' Comes Down In November


Now that pop music has been peppered with so many Avril clones, these days Lavigne is acting out her best Green Day, Bob Dylan and Metallica impressions. Lavigne’s covers of songs by those artists appear on the bonus audio disc that comes with “My World,” the singer’s first DVD, due November 4, according to an Arista Records spokesperson. Missy Elliott To Release 'This Is Not A Test'


Superstar Missy Elliott is currently in the studio working on her new album, This Is Not A Test, which will be released on November 25, according to MTV.com. The first single from the set is “Pass The Dutch.” This Is Not A Test is slated to include guest appearances from Jay-Z, R. Kelly, Alicia Keys, and Busta Rhymes, and the production of Timbaland. Summer Tour Affirms Metallica's Drawing Power


Making a case for hard music, stadium tours in general and Metallica’s own status as a headliner, Summer Sanitarium 2003 goes down as a winner, taking in $46.4 million and drawing 683,472 headbangers to 19 dates. The tour reaffirms the box-office clout of Metallica, which is currently in the planning stages of an extensive headlining tour next year, tentatively set to begin in March. The Island Def Jam Music Group has signed multi-platinum recording artist, Everlast, it was announced today. Everlast is currently in the studio working on his third studio album (Title: TBD) tentatively set for an early 2004 release. U2's Bono Has 'Row' With President Bush Over AIDS Money


Bono and President George W. Bush held a candid discussion on AIDS funding on Tuesday (September 16) which the U2 lead singer describes as a “Good ole row.” Back in May, Bush earmarked $3 billion worth of funding to fight AIDS on a global level. McCartney Gets in Shoving Match in London


Paul McCartney was involved in a scuffle Friday when a photographer tried to take his picture near the site of illusionist David Blaine’s latest stunt. McCartney spokesman Geoff Baker said the former Beatle fired him when he learned that Baker had informed the photographer that McCartney would be visiting the site on the River Thames. Blaine is trying to live there without food for 44 days while suspended from a crane in a plastic box. Baker later said he’d been reinstated, and described reports of a “fracas” as exaggerated. Metallica Frontman Auctions Off Car


Metallica frontman James Hetfield is putting the 1967 Camaro that he drove in the video for “I Disappear” up for auction, via eBay.com, starting Monday (September 22). Hetfield, who has owned and driven the car for three years, received it as a gift after the band finished filming the video. Money raised from the sale of the car will be donated to school music programs. Metallica has been nominated for an American Music Award in the category of favorite alternative artist, along with Coldplay and Linkin Park. Pink Rocks Harder on New CD


After toughening up her sound on 2002’s multi-million-copy-selling Missundaztood, Pink will continue to move further from R&B and closer to rock & roll on her third album, Try This, due November 11th. The first single, “Trouble,” will likely make its way to radio next month, and Pink has already shot a video for the song. Missundaztood found Pink collaborating extensively with former 4 Non Blondes singer Linda Perry, who has returned to co-write tracks for Try This.
