We’re going international on this week’s Geek Girl Riot! Our Rioters head to Italy for some adventures with Luca, stop off in France to pull off some heists with Lupin, before winding up in London for a pint with Starstruck.
Sherin and Julian feature Luca, the new Pixar movie coming to Disney+ on Friday. They tease the story, break down the characters and their designs, and get into some of the themes that are both classic Pixar but also hint at something more.
Lupin has been stealing our hearts lately—now that Part 2 is on Netflix, Sherin and Julian ring that Spoiler Siren to get into what makes it magnifique. They talk about the characters and their growth throughout the season, before applauding the fantastic cast and what they bring to the screen. Sherin says of the series: “Lupin feels like running at your fastest through a maze, never knowing what might be around the next corner: a pitfall, something comical, a dead end, or a villain of epic vileness. The mystery and thrills are high. It’s exhilarating.” Our Rioters close out this segment by exploring what Lupin does right about heists and capers.
Alex hops on with Sherin to talk some pop culture news, before diving into Starstruck, the new rom-com series on HBO Max. They tease the show, before giving their no-holds-barred thoughts on whether it’s a hit or miss (with a few Sherin Sidebars™️ along the way).
