Good Charlotte guitarist Billy Martin and his wife Linzi, a hairstylist, have welcomed a son, the rocker tells People Magazine. Dreavyn Kingslee Martin was born on Jan. 26 in Pasadena, Calif. He is the first child for the couple. “Mom is doing great, baby is healthy,” Martin tells People. “I couldn’t ask for anything more.” Adds Martin: “It is hands down the most amazing thing that has ever happened in my life. We can see so much of my wife and I in him already!” Martin, 27, is the second member of Good Charlotte to become a father — singer… Read more »

Good Charlotte Returns Today

Many acts avoid reading reviews of their albums for fear one sour critic will reduce their noble efforts to rubble. Good Charlotte’s Benji Madden is not one of those artists. “I read all the reviews,” he says. “I remember the first review I ever read about our band was ‘They’ll be gone tomorrow; they’ll be gone quicker than they came.’” Seven years and more than 9 million albums later, pop punkers Good Charlotte are not only still standing, but proudly proclaiming a return three years after the release of 2004’s “The Chronicles of Life & Death.” “Ben said something a… Read more »

Hard Core, Soft Heart

Read the following passage and choose the correct answers. A strong social conscience has inspired tattooed rockers Good Charlotte to join the tsunami relief effort. Good Charlotte Mock Selves In 'I Just Wanna Live'

When Good Charlotte wrote “Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous,” the song that vaulted their last album into the mainstream, they were neither rich nor famous. These days, after selling more than 3 million copies of 2002’s The Young and the Hopeless, the guys in Good Charlotte are, to say the least, in a higher tax bracket. So their latest video – for “I Just Wanna Live,” off The Chronicles of Life and Death – skewers the fact that Good Charlotte are now in the precarious position of being rich people singing a song that complains about rich people complaining,… Read more »

Good Charlotte Keeps Success in Perspective

If his bubble burst and all else failed, Benji Madden is sure there’d be more than a few regular jobs waiting for him. Flipping burgers, working in department stores, tending cash registers, living in small towns. That’s what Madden and his Good Charlotte bandmates were used to before rock stardom. “One thing I never worry about is money. Because I have my health and my family and I can always go back to work,” Benji said. “We’ve all had a million day jobs,” the 25-year-old guitarist/vocalist said during an interview at a Manhattan hotel. “We got by fine then. If… Read more »

How Green Day's Dookie Fertilized A Punk-Rock Revival

Green Day will toast the release of American Idiot on Tuesday, but perhaps an even bigger cause for celebration these days is the 10-year anniversary of their breakthrough LP, Dookie. The modern-day classic not only launched the Bay Area punk trio into the mainstream, it opened the door to a mid-’90s wave of popped-up punk and provided a launching pad for the current crop of melodic pop-punkers. “[Dookie] changed my life,” confessed Good Charlotte’s Joel Madden. “It made me want to start Good Charlotte…. Right after that record came out, we were like, ‘We have to start a band in… Read more »

Good Charlotte Beg Fans To 'Hold On'

Good Charlotte are still deciding whether to put out a fourth single from The Young and the Hopeless, but if so, the band has selected “Hold On.” “It’s my favorite song on the record,” Benji Madden said backstage at Saturday’s KROQ Weenie Roast. “I think it’s sort of an anti-suicide song. It’s about coping with life, and we feel like if we were to put out another single, we would want to put out a song that would actually maybe help people. So that’d probably be the best bet.” Benji, brother Joel and the rest of the band are hesitant… Read more »
