Bertelsmann Names Dieter Vogel Chairman


German media giant Bertelsmann named a new chairman Wednesday to take over for Gerd Schulte-Hillen, who announced his resignation last month after a clash over corporate strategy with the company chief executive. Dieter Vogel, Schulte-Hillen’s former deputy, will start Jan. 1 in the new position, a company statement said. Phish Member Beaten By Hells Angels After Disappearing With Child


More details are emerging surrounding the arrest of Phish bassist Mike Gordon on charges of child endangerment. While Gordon was a guest at the Dead’s August 11 concert in Long Island, he disappeared with the daughter of a Hells Angels member. A search for the girl began after the mother of the child became concerned. The New York Post reports members of the Hells Angels found Gordon and the girl in a boathouse near the concert stage. Kelly from attending a Los Angeles video shoot, but the judge said on Wednesday (June 4) that he would permit the R&B superstar to travel to Los Angeles for the third annual BET Awards on June 24. Jethro Tull’s Ian Anderson and Peter Gabriel bassist Tony Levin are among the guests on Hundred Year Flood, the new album by progressive rockers Magellan. The trio’s album is due out September 10 from Magna Carta Records. Dee Dee Ramone, a founding member of punk pioneers the Ramones, died Wednesday night in his Hollywood home, according to a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office. The bassist was 50 Ramone (born Douglas Glenn Colvin) was found unresponsive by his wife around 8:40 p.m. She called police, and fire department paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. A coroner’s office spokesperson said the case will be treated as a possible accidental drug overdose. Investigators found a syringe and other drug paraphernalia on Ramone’s kitchen counter.
