R. Kelly's Sing-Along With Chicago Schoolkids May Put Him Behind Bars

Within hours of surrendering to Chicago authorities, R. Kelly may have violated terms of his bond by associating with minors, a matter which could cost the singer his freedom before his impending trial on child pornography charges. On Friday morning, Kelly surrendered himself to authorities in Cook County, Illinois (see “R. Kelly Back In Chicago; June 26 Court Date Set”). After he was processed and posted a $750,000 bond, Kelly went with his lawyer Edward Genson and his spiritual advisor, Reverend James Meeks, to attend a ceremony held at the Salem Baptist Church, where Meeks is a pastor. For any young band, the idea of performing before thousands on their first arena tour is a daunting proposal. When the heroically titled Saves the Day were tapped as openers for Weezer’s North American tour, which begins February 5, however, they pushed the butterflies aside and focused instead on rising to the occasion. “Every tour that we go on, we hope to be more comfortable as a live band,” bassist Eben D’Amico said. “Just being able to do our thing onstage that much better. Dead Kennedys Alive Again … To Jello's Dismay

Synonymous with the name, Dead Kennedys have always been controversy – beginning with their moniker and continuing with their vigorous punk activism that was an authority in the early San Francisco punk scene. However this time around, the controversy concerns not strife with the government, but a battle between the former bandmates themselves. An upcoming release of live Dead Kennedys’ recordings called Mutiny on the Bay has exacerbated the punk pioneers’ state of mutiny from outspoken ex-frontman Jello Biafra. While Kennedys’ guitarist East Bay Ray, bassist Klaus Fluoride and drummer J.H. Peligro are endorsing the latest goods, Biafra is in… Read more »
