Guns N' Roses Announce First U.S. Tour In A Decade


W. Axl Rose will exhibit his appetite for reconstruction when Guns N’ Roses re-emerge for their first U.S. tour in nine years with many new band members and a batch of new material. The first date of the group’s trek will be November 7 in Vancouver at General Motors Place. An additional 25 dates have been announced, the last of which will be December 21 in Dallas at the American Airlines Center. More shows will be booked in the coming weeks. Public Enemy Fights the (MTV) Power


Once again, Public Enemy is fighting the power. This time, the subject of the pioneering, politically-minded rap group’s ire is a little network called MTV. The Chuck D-led hip-hop icons have had their latest rap, “Gotta Give the Peeps What They Need,” banned by the music channel because of a lyric deemed too political by the suits at MTV, the Los Angeles Times reports. As is standard procedure with MTV, PE submitted the clip for review earlier this summer. Wait… Lance Bass Might Still Be Going To Space


Just when you thought you’d heard the last of it, it looks like Lance Bass’ space mission might happen after all. A source close to the project told MTV News that Bass will resume training at the Star City facility near Moscow on Wednesday, thanks to a nearly finalized sponsorship deal with Pepsi. To make up for the 10 training days Bass lost since being pulled off his regimen earlier this month he’s going to have to work 16-hour days and weekends. Axl Rose brought Guns N’ Roses back to the MTV Video Music Awards Thursday night for the first time in 10 years, but the frontman indicated that the wait for a new album from the band will continue. The Backstreet Boys To Make Their Animated 'Arthur' Debut


The Backstreet Boys will pay a visit to Elwood City in the PBS Kids animated series Arthur at 8 p.m. ET on September 1. Beginning August 19, the Arthur website ( pbskids.org/arthur/backstreet) will feature all new Backstreet Boys-themed content, including music video clips of the group in the prime-time television special, lyrics from the show’s two original songs, and exclusive pages to print and color. Michael Jackson’s list of grievances with Sony Music has grown from complaints about the promotion of his Invincible album to include accusations that the label blocked the release of his “What More Can I Give” charity single. BMG Buys Zomba Music for $3 Billion


BMG, the music division of German media conglomerate Bertelsmann AG, announced yesterday that it has agreed to take control of Zomba Music Group, the record label that revived the teen pop genre with the likes of Britney Spears and ‘N Sync. Universal Music Enterprises (UME) and Disc Marketing, Inc. have entered into a multi-year agreement to create compelling music “premiums” for many of the world’s major consumer brands, it was announced today by Bruce Resnikoff, President, Universal Music Enterprises. No Doubt To Mix It Up On 'Malice'


No Doubt will collaborate Vivendi Universal Games (a division of Vivendi Universal Publishing) and Interscope Records for a character-based, three-dimensional action-adventure videogame titled Malice, which will feature characters voiced by bandmembers as well as songs from their Rock Steady album.
