R.E.M. is in the midst of preparations for its upcoming world tour, and according to a post by frontman Michael Stipe on the group’s official Web site (http://www.remhq.com), the band has already rehearsed 70 songs. A jury in Santa Monica, California, has found Tommy Lee not negligent in the death of a 4-year-old boy who drowned during a pool party at his Malibu home in July 2001. “Although I am relieved that the court has found me not negligent, there are no winners in this sad situation,” Lee said in a statement issued late Thursday. “The Osbournes,” the reality series about rocker Ozzy Osbourne’s unorthodox family and home life, drew 6.6 million viewers in its second-season premiere, MTV said Wednesday. Tuesday’s ratings were up 84 percent compared to the first season’s premiere, and viewership rivaled that of the highest-rated episode last season, the music channel said. “‘The Osbournes’ juggernaut shows little signs of slowing down,” MTV programming president Brian Graden said in a statement. A DVD chronicling the life of the late Drowning Pool frontman Dave Williams is in the works, and it may also aid in the realization of one of his longtime ambitions. A day after the body of Drowning Pool frontman Dave Williams was discovered on the band’s tour bus, details remained scarce but memories of Williams as a fun-loving, kind-hearted character abounded. The 30-year-old singer was found in his bunk by members of Drowning Pool’s touring crew Wednesday afternoon, their publicist said. The band was in Manassas, Virginia, on its way to Thursday’s Ozzfest show in Bristow. An autopsy conducted Thursday morning proved inconclusive, according to a Prince William County police spokesperson.
