Pink Sick of Politics of Music

Pink is sick of business managers, lawyers and talking to radio disc jockeys, and you definitely won’t find her singing about chocolate. The themes of her current album, “M!ssundaztood,” find Pink fighting against bad relationships in her strident, sorely independent ways. “To me, it was all about freedom,” she told the Las Vegas Review-Journal of her music. “Life is not always flowers and chocolates, and I figured people could relate to that.” She’s happy, she says, although she’s sick of the politics of music. Pink, 22, broke onto radio and MTV in 2000 with the hit “There You Go.” In… Read more »

Labels Tune Up Online

Major labels EMI Group and Warner Music Group separately unveiled new online systems Monday to streamline and improve the way their music is licensed. Pink Bringing Hot Girls And Rats On Tour With Her

When Pink phoned Lenny Kravitz last month, the party starter made sure the reason for her call was not at all missundaztood. “I was like, ‘You should come down for rehearsals.’ And he was like, ‘What are you rehearsing for?’ And I was like, ‘Your tour,’ ” Pink explained. “I’m like, ‘You would be very smart to take me on tour.’ And then like two or three weeks later he called and we hooked it up. I take what I want.” She certainly does, especially when it comes to men. For her next video, “Just Like a Pill,” Pink requested… Read more »

Minogue in Vogue, EMI Back in Fashion

With the surprise U.S. success of Kylie Minogue, Capitol Records is starting to regain its footing in the current release marketplace. The EMI-owned label certainly has to hope the Minogue revival – her album “Fever” has sold 250,000 copies in three weeks of release in the U.S., and the single “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” has sold nearly 3 million worldwide – portends a solid spring for its established stars.
