While former Limp Bizkit guitarist Wes Borland thinks he will soon find a lead singer for his new outfit Eat The Day, Borland does not believe that his new band will ever be as big as Limp Bizkit. Borland, who recently traveled to England in the ongoing search for a vocalist for Eat The Day, said in an interview in Kerrang! magazine that he has narrowed down the list to three potential frontmen. After nine months of recording with at least five different guitar players, Limp Bizkit still aren’t finished with their new album. Fred Durst has set aside the 19 tracks already recorded and is starting fresh with new guitarist Mike Smith, formerly of Snot. “The chemistry with our new guitar player, Mike, is so dope that we are spending the next couple weeks writing a new album!” Durst wrote on Limp Bizkit’s Web site Wednesday. Los Angeles rap-rockers Crazy Town return November 12 with Darkhorse, the follow-up to the band’s 2000 multi-platinum Columbia debut, The Gift of Game, The first single from the sophomore set, “Drowning,” has already been serviced to radio, with a video directed by Brendan and Emmett Malloy, whose credits include clips for Foo Fighters, Blink-182, 311, and the Used. The Strokes have announced the five dates that they will open for Weezer. The band will open for Rivers Cuomo and crew starting July 15 in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Opening all of Weezer’s dates are Dashboard Confessional and Sparta. While already extremely popular in the U.K., the Strokes’ success at home in the U.S. also continues to expand, if at a slower pace. When drummer Pat Wilson described Weezer’s latest live show tendencies recently, he separately mentioned Neil Diamond, Spinal Tap, Tool and Phish in a matter of minutes. Needless to say, the band’s summer tour should be interesting. Dates have not been announced, but Wilson and frontman Rivers Cuomo said Weezer will spend six weeks hitting amphitheaters across America with Dashboard Confessional beginning in mid-July. Matt Sharp, founding bassist for Weezer, has filed a lawsuit against his former bandmates, their ex-manager and a slew of band accountants seeking compensation and credit for songs on Weezer’s first two albums. Boston native Joey McIntyre will host the 15th annual Boston Music Awards (BMAs) at the city’s 2,700-seat Orpheum Theatre on Thursday (April 11). Rocking a stadium is no mean trick.
