Less Than Jake, 3OH!3 lead '09 Warped caravan


The Warped Tour, the annual traveling festival that targets the Vans-wearing, emo-loving youth of America, has recently announced the lineup  for their 2009 caravan. As usual (and because the event is celebrating its 15th anniversary), the lineup combines older acts like NOFX, Less Than Jake and Bad Religion with newer artists like 3OH!3 and Black Tide. Punk Rock World Mourns Derrick Plourde And Hideaki 'Billy' Sekiguchi


Drummer Derrick Plourde – a founding member of Southern California punk band Lagwagon – and Hideaki Sekiguchi – who slapped the bass for Tokyo garage-punk band Guitar Wolf – both died Wednesday, news that sent shockwaves throughout the underground punk rock world. Plourde was 33, and Sekiguchi was 38. Hoobastank, Smile Empty Soul, Jet Swing Onto 'Spider-Man 2'


Hoobastank, Jet, Smile Empty Soul, the Lostprophets, and others are tentatively set for inclusion on the soundtrack of Spider-Man 2, according to MTV.com. Songs by Dashboard Confessional and Train will serve as singles from the album, which is due out on June 22. Hoobastank, Jet, Yellowcard Spin Songs For 'Spider-Man 2' Soundtrack


Jet, Hoobastank, Yellowcard and Lostprophets lead the crop of bands already on board for the album, due June 22, according to a Columbia Records spokesperson. Tracks by Train and Dashboard Confessional will serve as the LP’s two singles, set for a simultaneous release at an unspecified date. Videos for the songs are also expected to surface at the same time. Foo Fighters, Used, Yellowcard On Rock Against Bush Vol. 2


A week after the compilation Rock Against Bush Vol. 1 was released, a sequel to the politically minded compilation is taking shape. The Foo Fighters will contribute their cover of “Gas Chamber,” a song originally recorded by L.A. punks the Angry Samoans, which appeared as a B-side to the Foos’ 1996 CD single “Big Me.” The original tune appeared on the Angry Samoans’ second album, 1982’s Back From Samoa. Used, Sum 41 on Warped DVD


This year is a milestone for the Vans Warped Tour, as the hard rocking fest enters its tenth year of carrying the post-punk banner. Footage of some of last year’s touring bands – including the Used, the Ataris, Sum 41, Glassjaw, Pennywise, Rancid, Thrice and Less Than Jake – will be included on Vans Warped Tour ’03, a DVD due on June 22nd. Sum 41 Work On New Album, Get Political


After tracking drum parts in Los Angeles, then shifting operations to their hometown of Toronto, Sum 41 have at least one more trip scheduled before they release the follow-up to 2002’s Does This Look Infected? And this one’s sure to give their frequent-flyer miles a boost.
