Warner Music Group’s Atlantic Group division on Thursday said it will expand its Lava Records label, home to such acts like Kid Rock, and increase its staff from about five to 35 people. The Los Angeles Times on Thursday said Warner will pay $50 million to Lava founder Jason Flom for the share of the label it does not already own. A Warner spokeswoman said no terms were available. The Tiger Woods Foundation announced today that Grammy-award winning artists Don Henley and Train will perform at the Tiger Jam V benefit concert presented by Coca-Cola and hosted by Tiger Woods. Beck, Deftones and Offspring singer Dexter Holland joined Recording Artists Coalition founders Don Henley and Sheryl Crow at California’s State Capitol on Wednesday to support new legislation that could change the relationship between recording artists and their labels. Atlantic Records has named longtime label executives Craig Kallman and Ron Shapiro as the first co-presidents of the Warner Music Group imprint, filling a post that has been vacant since co-chairman and CEO Val Azzoli Azzoli held it six years ago. Both execs will report to Azzoli, who shares his own post with venerable label co-founder Ahmet Ertegun. The rock band U2 had the second biggest tour ever during a year in which concert industry business was off but ticket prices continued to rise, an industry trade publication said Thursday. The top 100 concert tours sold 34.4 million tickets in 2001, down about 7 percent from 37.1 million the year before, according to an analysis by Pollstar magazine.
