Puddle of Mudd Singer Arrested


The lead singer of the rock group Puddle of Mudd was arrested for allegedly fighting with his fiancee. Wes Scantlin, 29, of Kansas City, Mo., and Michelle Rubin, 31, of Los Angeles, both were arrested Sunday for investigation of domestic violence and booked at the Ventura County jail. They were released after posting $20,000 bond each. Scantlin apparently was en route to shoot a music video when he began fighting with Rubin around 8:30 a.m. on the shoulder of Highway 126 in nearby Piru, authorities said. Sugarcult Show Cut Short When Floor Starts To Collapse


Southern California punk rockers Sugarcult gave new meaning to the saying “bring down the house” in Detroit on Wednesday when their performance at St. Andrew’s Hall was cut short because the floor was caving in. Just after performing their third song and latest single, “Bouncing Off the Walls,” Sugarcult were ordered to halt their set when a manager in the room below the club noticed the ceiling caving in as concertgoers, well, bounced off the walls. Aussie Rockers INXS Set U.S. Tour with New Singer


More than four years after the suicide of their elegant frontman, Michael Hutchence, the five members of Australian rock band INXS will return to the U.S. concert circuit in May with a substitute vocalist. The group, famed for such hits as “Need You Tonight” and “Devil Inside,” will kick off a 40-city club tour in Anaheim, Calif., on May 30 with Jon Stevens at the helm, the group’s publicist said in a statement on Friday. Ozzy Osbourne To Record Live Album, DVD At Budokan


Ozzy Osbourne, on his first tour of Japan in four years, will tape his performance Friday at Tokyo’s legendary Budokan Hall for a live album and DVD. Live at Budokan, a title most music fans associate with Cheap Trick’s bombastic 1979 live effort, is scheduled for a summer release. Although it’s not yet known which performance songs will appear in the video, the live album will contain some B-sides from import singles, according to Osbourne’s publicist. Rosen Testifies at Senate Foreign Relations Hearing


Recording Industry Association of America President and CEO Hilary Rosen recently testified before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing on international and domestic intellectual property theft. The subject of music piracy has been top on Rosen’s agenda since the advent of Napster in late 1999, and the emergence of post-Napster progeny since the RIAA successfully shut down the peer-to-peer music exchange in July last year. EMI seeks to buy out Mariah Carey contract-report


It didn’t take long for the glitter of pop diva Mariah Carey’s new multimillion-dollar record deal with EMI Group Plc to lose its luster. Three months after the commercial flop of her first EMI release, the British-based music giant is seeking to buy out Carey’s contract by offering her a huge lump-sum payment in exchange for her departure from EMI’s Virgin Records label, the Los Angeles Times reported Wednesday.
