Yet another eclectic summer soundtrack looms, this time for director Kevin Smith’s forthcoming flick, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. The compilation, due August 14th, mixes previously unreleased tracks from Stroke 9, the Bloodhound Gang, Soul Asylum’sBon Jovi, Morris Day and the Time and Steppenwolf. The Bloodhound Gang”s contribution to Jay and Silent Bob, a track called “Jackass,” was previously tabbed for two other soundtracks this year. A Dallas radio station has fired two disc jockeys who sparked a panic among Britney Spears fans with a phony report that the teen pop star was killed in a car crash with boyfriend Justin Timberlake, the radio station said Tuesday. Police and fire officials in Los Angeles were deluged with phone calls after two San Jose-based deejays, known as Kramer and Twitch, claimed a source told them Spears was dead and Timberlake, a member of the teen heartthrob band ‘N Sync, was in a coma after a crash in Los Angles. Modern-Alternative rockers Lit have nailed down studio time to start working on the follow-up to their 1999 platinum-plus sophomore release “A Place In The Sun.” Lead vocalist A. Jay Popoff, guitarist Jeremy Popoff, bassist Kevin Baldes and drummer Allen Shellenberger will head into the studio on May 14 to begin recording their new project. Fourth album said to feature electronica, hard R&B, even country. ‘NSYNC have titled their fourth album after something they know a lot about: Celebrity. The follow-up to last year’s No Strings Attached – which sold a record-setting 2.4 million copies in its first week – is due June 26.
