According to reports out of England, Harrison will be included on The Queen’s Birthday list next June. System of a Down are on a Los Angeles soundstage shooting a video for the title track to their near-double-platinum second album, Toxicity. Bassist Shavo Odadjian is taking his first turn as director with the aid of veteran Marco Siega, who, in addition to helming clips for Blink-182 and Papa Roach, also crafted System’s TRL standard, “Chop Suey.” The prog-metal quartet has recalled the 200 black-clad fans who populated the “Chop Suey” video to mosh on command for this latest clip. R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck will be retried beginning March 4 on assault charges and other allegations stemming from incidents on an April flight from Seattle to London. Isleworth Crown Court Judge John Crocker dismissed Buck’s first trial on November 13, after a day of opening arguments from the prosecution. He did not make the reason for the dismissal public. George Harrison, lead guitarist for the band that single handedly changed the face of rock forever, lost his battle with cancer Thursday in Los Angeles. He was 58. British band Depeche Mode said on Thursday the September 11 suicide hijack attacks in the United States had hardly affected European musicians and concert-goers. He contrasted this to the U.S. situation, where the music industry had slowed down.
