Kelly Osbourne Back in Rehab

Kelly Osbourne is in trouble deep and back in rehab. The 20-year-old spawn of Ozzy has checked into a drug-treatment center in Pasadena, California, according to Us Weekly. Calls to an Osbourne publicist were not immediately returned late Friday night, but a family rep is quoted in the magazine saying, “Kelly is in a facility dealing with some personal issues. She’ll be back in a few weeks.” An unnamed source close to Osbourne tells Us Weekly, “She’s slipped into some of her old problems and is not doing so well. Everyone is supporting her.” This is the youngest Osbourne’s second… Read more »

Hawthorne Heights' Star Is Rising – Just Ask The Guitarist's Mom

Hawthorne Heights frontman JT Woodruff can scream like nobody’s business, but when he’s speaking to you one-on-one, it’s in soft, hushed tones, like his voice has been wrapped in a woolen scarf. And his voice gets even softer when he’s asked about his band’s recent successes: the record that’s climbing the charts, the headlining slot on this summer’s Warped Tour and the video that’s just been added to MTV’s rotation. It’s one thing to be uncomfortable in the spotlight, but Woodruff’s aversion to sudden fame is downright Rivers Cuomo-esque. “Uh, well, it means more kids are coming to our shows.… Read more »

Yellowcard Feverishly Working On New Album… Starting Tomorrow

Yellowcard singer Ryan Key and his brand-new roommate – bassist Pete Mosely – recently witnessed something they had never seen before: an honest-to-goodness blizzard. It happened in New York a few weeks back, and while it certainly wasn’t the most epic of meteorological events (just one day of snow), it was enough to keep the Florida-spawned duo bundled up inside their apartment in Manhattan’s Soho district. Which isn’t really a bad thing, when you consider they moved to New York to begin writing the new Yellowcard record. So how many new tunes did they pen while Mother Nature unleashed her… Read more »

'Battle For Ozzfest' Winners Have A Lot Of Shirtless Fans

Seven months ago, A Dozen Furies were just another band you would catch playing in a dive bar and, looking up only briefly from your drink, note to yourself, “Interesting name.” Now, after besting North Carolina’s Cynder in the finals of MTV’s “Battle for Ozzfest” – scoring $60,000, a contract with Sanctuary Records and a slot on next year’s Ozzfest second stage in the process – they’ve become the metal community’s biggest overnight success story. “We’re a very new band. We only have one album. We’ve only been around for a year,” ADF guitarist Marc Serrano laughed. “When we won… Read more »

Dimebag's Killer Was A Stranger In His Neighborly Hometown

MARYSVILLE, Ohio – In a small town where people greet you by name at Maggie’s Restaurant and where the guy who runs the local pawn shop will do what he can with your wife’s wedding ring because he knows you need the cash for Christmas, Nathan Gale was a stranger in plain view. His apartment at 111 1/2 E. Fifth St., half a block from the downtown shopping district’s single stoplight, put him right in the heart of this close-knit community of 16,000 residents. But even though he spent hours every day hanging out at the restaurant and tattoo parlor… Read more »

Jewel Heist at Ozzy Manor

The English countryside ain’t as quaint as it used to be-just ask the Osbournes. Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne had quite the scare about 4 a.m. Monday as a jewel heist unfolded at their Buckinghamshire mansion. According to police reports, burglars got away with a “large amount of jewelry” (estimated at 1 million pounds-or more than $1.9 million) and remain at large. The hard-rocking couple were home sleeping at the time of the break-in, but were not hurt-despite Ozzy’s best efforts. “The disturbance woke the residents, and a man grabbed one of the burglars,” the Thames Valley Police said in a… Read more »

Bands Reveal Name Origins

The Rolling Stones and Radiohead got theirs from song titles, U2 and the B-52’s from military aircrafts and Lynyrd Skynyrd from their old gym teacher. And the stories behind new millennium band names are no less random: Yellowcard According to these So-Cal pop-punkers, “yellowcard” is a take on the ever-popular Frat house idiom, “party foul,” proving drunks can be simultaneously obnoxious and witty. Perhaps Ewan McKegger was already in use. Coldplay Chris Martin and his mates, originally called Starfish, were friends with a band called Coldplay. When that band gave up the name, Starfish asked if they could use it.… Read more »

Fans Mark 10 Years Since Cobain Death

Kurt Cobain and his band, Nirvana, spent only three years in the public eye, and they released only three studio albums. But what he accomplished before committing suicide 10 years ago Monday at age 27 – deciding it was “better to burn out than fade away,” as he quoted Neil Young in his suicide note – was remarkable. Beneath this bridge above the muddy banks of the Wishkah River, a troubled young Cobain would come to escape his unhappy home and the persistent gray drizzle of the Washington coast. Among the cracking concrete supports, he would smoke pot and drink… Read more »

Jackson Still in Pain From 'Manhandling'

Michael Jackson says he is still in pain from being put in police handcuffs last month and tells CBS’s “60 Minutes” that authorities “manhandled” him. The pop star said he suffered a dislocated shoulder from the way he was cuffed and handled during his arrest on child molestation charges. “It’s hurting me very badly,” Jackson said in an interview broadcast Sunday. “I’m in pain all the time.” Representatives of the Santa Barbara County sheriff’s department did not return a call seeking comment Sunday. District Attorney Thomas Sneddon has said Jackson was treated fairly while in custody. Jackson denied the molestation… Read more »
