Get ready for “Spider-Man: The Broadway Musical.” That may not be the official title, but Marvel Studios is putting the pieces together for a musical on the Great White Way starring the popular superhero, which will be directed by Tony winner Julie Taymor, with U2’s Bono and the Edge creating new music and lyrics for the project. Hoobastank, Jet, Smile Empty Soul, the Lostprophets, and others are tentatively set for inclusion on the soundtrack of Spider-Man 2, according to MTV.com. Songs by Dashboard Confessional and Train will serve as singles from the album, which is due out on June 22. Hoobastank, Jet, Yellowcard Spin Songs For 'Spider-Man 2' Soundtrack


Jet, Hoobastank, Yellowcard and Lostprophets lead the crop of bands already on board for the album, due June 22, according to a Columbia Records spokesperson. Tracks by Train and Dashboard Confessional will serve as the LP’s two singles, set for a simultaneous release at an unspecified date. Videos for the songs are also expected to surface at the same time. Saliva's Josey Scott On 'Hero' And Spider-Man


One of rock’s current hottest songs, “Hero,” appears on the soundtrack to one of the hottest movies around, Spider-Man. The soundtrack, which debuted at Number Four on the Billboard 200, includes the hit featuring Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger, Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron, and Saliva frontman Josey Scott. 'Spider-Man' Theme To Come Courtesy Of Aerosmith


For his next musical offering, Steven Tyler will be singing about slinging. Tyler and his Aerosmith bandmates are contributing their version of the “Theme From Spider-Man” (“Spider-Man, Spider-Man, does whatever a spider can…”) to the soundtrack for the live-action feature, according to a Columbia Records spokesperson. The LP, composed of tracks exclusive to the soundtrack as well as previously released album cuts, is set for release April 30. Sum 41, Alien Ant Farm Spin Songs For 'Spider-Man'


Songs by Sum 41, Alien Ant Farm, Default and Slipknot’s Corey Taylor as well as a collaboration between Jerry Cantrell and members of Nickelback and Saliva are being considered for the upcoming “Spider-Man” movie soundtrack. Sum 41 plan to contribute a Rick Rubin-produced version of “It’s What We’re All About,” and they’re shooting a video for the tune Wednesday (March 20) in their hometown of Toronto, according to an Island Def Jam spokesperson.
