Led Zeppelin has agreed to let one of their songs be used in the soundtrack for the upcoming film School Of Rock-but only because its star, Jack Black, asked personally. According to the studio, Black-who makes music with the comical rock act Tenacious D-stepped in after School Of Rock director Richard Linklater was unable to get permission to use “Immigrant Song.” Black reportedly sent a humorous videotaped request for the song to the three surviving members of Led Zeppelin, who subsequently gave their approval. Rock-rap act 311 has slated a July 11 for its seventh studio album, “Evolver.” The group reteamed with producer Ron Saint Germain (Bad Brains, Sonic Youth) for the Volcano Records set. He last worked with the band on its self-titled third album, released in 1995 via Capricorn Records. Shortly before the album’s release, the group will kick off a U.S. tour July 15 on the West Coast. Dates for that trek, which will extend into September, will be announced soon. Busta Rhymes and David Bowie are among the artists set to join Moby on the Area2 tour, the sample-lover’s second foray into the world of eclectic summer outings. The three-week trek is scheduled to begin July 28 in Bristow, Virginia, and cover Eastern seaboard stops before heading West, according to the event’s publicist.
