Papa Roach Plans Hip-Hop Medley For Anger Management

Papa Roach’s upcoming album, lovehatetragedy, may find the group gravitating from rap-rock to a more straightforward rock sound, but that doesn’t mean the band has abandoned hip-hop entirely. The group plans to pay homage to the style as part of its set on the upcoming Anger Management tour, which also features Eminem, Ludacris, and Xzibit. Papa Roach frontman Jacoby Shaddix said. “We’re gonna do, like, a medley of, like, just flip a bunch of hip-hop classics, like the hooks, so, you know, for the fans that are like, ‘OK, we like this band but…’ Like, in the middle of the… Read more »

Papa Roach Distance Themselves From Rap-Metal Peers On New LP

When Jacoby Shaddix (a.k.a. Coby Dick) was bashing his forehead bloody with the mic night after night on last year’s Ozzfest, it became pretty clear that Papa Roach were a tortured, turbulent group – one far removed from the cookie-cutter rap-metal bands to which it was frequently compared. As if to hammer home the point, the band has distanced itself even further from its former peers on Lovehatetragedy, which comes out June 18. Aside from a rapped section in the first single, “She Loves Me Not,” and a few half-spoken vocal lines in various other songs, there’s nothing on the… Read more »

Papa Roach Provide The Rock For Rappers Black Eyed Peas

Just because the next Papa Roach album will be devoid of rapping doesn’t mean the band doesn’t have a little bit of hip-hop left in its blackened heart – which might explain why the group has booked studio time to work on a song with innovative rappers Black Eyed Peas. The track will appear on the next Black Eyed Peas record, due later this year. This isn’t the first time Papa Roach have been invited to collaborate with another group, but it’s the first time they’ve accepted an offer. “We’ve been holding out to actually work with an artist in… Read more »

Papa Roach's 'She Loves Me Not' Inspired By Marital Strife

The inspiration for “She Loves Me Not,” the first single from Papa Roach’s upcoming album, Lovehatetragedy, didn’t come easy to frontman Jacoby Shaddix. The track is about his sometimes-turbulent relationship with his wife, Kelly, who recently gave birth to their first child, Makaile Cielo Shaddix. The chorus, which includes the lines, “I don’t know if I care/ I’m the jerk/ Life’s not fair/ Fighting all the time/ This is out of line/ She loves me not,” illustrates the stress of trying to juggle your relationship and your band. “I feel like anything I do is just not enough,” Shaddix, formerly… Read more »
