The 52nd annual Grammy Awards added some heavy artillery to the roster of performers taking the stage on Jan. 31: nominees Green Day, Lady Gaga, and Pink.
Few new artists in recent years have made an impact on the pop music scene as quickly as Lady Gaga, who won the Best New Artist Video Music Award this September. But her catchy number-one hits and unpredictable performances are not enough to make her eligible for the new artist category at next year’s Grammy awards.
Monday night was the premiere of Lady Gaga and Beyoncé’s sexy, Hype Williams-directed “Video Phone” video, featuring the two pop stars dancing and posing pin-up style with massive toy guns and matching leotards.
NEW YORK — Lady Gaga and Kanye West shocked fans on Thursday when they announced they’d be canceling their much-anticipated Fame Kills tour without explanation.
Just two weeks after Kanye West and Lady Gaga announced their full slate of “Fame Kills” dates, the tour has been canceled. No official reason has been given for the cancellation, but ticket refunds will be available. After the backlash surrounding Kanye’s outburst during Taylor Swift’s VMAs acceptance speech, the tour was rumored to be embattled. Now official confirmation of the cancellation comes from concert promoters Live Nation. But Gaga isn’t letting this slow down her collaborations with rappers. Just yesterday, she hinted at the possibility of recording with Dr. Dre.
After witnessing Lady Gaga’s violently dramatic performance at MTV’s Video Music Awards earlier this month (blood! hangings!), when word broke the former Rolling Stone cover star would rock Saturday Night Live this coming weekend, fans started to prep for something suitably epic. Gaga says she’ll deliver – with a brand-new track. The singer told Las Vegas and San Diego radio stations KLUC and 94.1 she’ll perform the as-yet-unspecified new song along with “Paparazzi,” according to MTV News. Lady GaGa becomes just the third artist in the 16-year history of the Mainstream Top 40 airplay chart to collect three No. 1 songs from a debut album. “LoveGame” (Interscope) rises 2-1, marking Lady GaGa’s third No. 1, following “Just Dance” (two weeks) and “Poker Face” (five weeks). The three songs appear on her top five Billboard 200 album, The Fame. The set has sold 1,162,000 copies to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan. In one of the strangest collaborations this year, Lady Gaga has recruited Marilyn Manson to contribute vocals to the remix of her dance-floor anthem “LoveGame.” As of now, Perez Hilton is streaming the hyperactive remix, and posted some photos of the pair in the studio. Kanye West appeared on ABC’s “The View” Wednesday and took the opportunity to announce his forthcoming co-headlining tour with disco queen Lady Gaga. Although he kept the details of the tour light, he spoke excitedly about it.
