Alternative rock outfit Dashboard Confessional has unveiled plans for a fall tour, beginning Aug. 30 in Pittsburgh and wrapping Oct. 7 in St. Paul, Minn. The Chris Carrabba-led band will be touring in support of its upcoming Vagrant album, “A Mark, a Mission, a Brand, a Scar,” due Aug. 12. Dashboard Confessional has left its support slot on Beck’s North American tour, effective immediately. The Chris Carrabba-led group played its final gig on the trek Saturday outside Denver. The move is being chalked up to “circumstances beyond our control” on Dashboard’s official Web site (http://www.dashboardconfessional.com), although sources indicate the band may have left the tour for financial reasons. Fellow support act the Black Keys will remain on the trek through its June 27 conclusion in Irvine, Calif., and will play a longer set in Dashboard’s absence. He won’t explain the meaning, but Chris Carrabba has chosen A Mark, a Mission, a Brand, a Scar as the title for the next Dashboard Confessional album. Carrabba has demoed more than 40 songs for the album and will record 14 or so with his band in January, he said. “It’s a little more dynamic, but it’s been increasingly getting that way since we started,” Carrabba explained backstage at KROQ-FM’s Almost Acoustic Christmas. “With every EP we’ve done, it’s gotten a little more diverse. Dashboard Confessional’s MTV Unplugged 2.0 DVD and CD have been pushed back another few weeks to Dec. 17. The release, originally due Dec. 3 on Vagrant Records, includes 15 tracks recorded at MTV’s Times Square studio in New York for an MTV Unplugged segment, while the DVD is the complete taping of the show, including two songs that did not air on the MTV show. When drummer Pat Wilson described Weezer’s latest live show tendencies recently, he separately mentioned Neil Diamond, Spinal Tap, Tool and Phish in a matter of minutes. Needless to say, the band’s summer tour should be interesting. Dates have not been announced, but Wilson and frontman Rivers Cuomo said Weezer will spend six weeks hitting amphitheaters across America with Dashboard Confessional beginning in mid-July.
