The bands on this tour could have held an open casting call, but they wouldn’t have found a better set of screeching, adoring fans than the sold-out, 98-percent female ’tweens at tonight’s show.Sure, the performers are making a silly poke at the 2001 Ben Stiller-starring comedy Zoolander with their tour title, and they even incorporated Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s “Relax” before playing, but from the crowd’s reaction, this tour might as well have been a serious male model showcase. New tracks from Gym Class Heroes, Cobra Starship and Big City Rock will be found on the soundtrack for “TMNT – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Music from the Motion Picture,” due March 13 from iTunes and March 20 from traditional retail via Atlantic. Other artists on the soundtrack include Jet, Pepper, Meg & Dia and Amber Pacific. The iTunes release will include an exclusive acoustic version of Amber Pacific’s “Save Me From Me,” along with an in-studio video recording of “Fall Back Into My Life.” The album includes excerpts from the film’s score, composed by Klaus Badelt. “TMNT” features narration… Read more »
At some point, Cobra Starship mastermind Gabe Saporta is really gonna have to decide if having a keytar player in his band is worth it. Sure, the keytar is totally awesome – name another instrument good enough for Donald Fagen, Prince and “Weird” Al Yankovic – but in getting to the bottom of the Starship’s split with ‘tar player Elisa Schwartz (a less-than-harmonious parting of ways involving stolen iPods, clandestine spa sessions and late-night Britney Spears-fueled dance parties) you start to wonder if perhaps Saporta would be better off having never hired a keytar player in the first place. “The… Read more »
