Avril Lavigne Tapped For 2003 Asia Vid Awards


Canadian female pop-rocker Avril Lavigne will perform at the second annual MTV Asia Awards, scheduled to be held next year at Singapore Indoor Stadium on January 24. The 17-year-old Lavigne has been nominated in two award categories, favorite female artist and favorite breakthrough artist, bolstered by her debut album Let Go. The album’s first hit, “Complicated,” has been inescapable on the airwaves this year, and Let Go has sold more than seven million albums worldwide since its release this spring. Vertical Horizon Album Pushed Back Until 2003


The release date for Vertical Horizon’s second RCA Records release, titled Go, has been pushed back until 2003. “The band is still recording,” the spokesperson says. “They are putting on the final touches.” The album, which is the follow-up to the band’s hit 1999 RCA debut, Everything You Want, was last anticipated for release in late September or early October. Ownership of Portable Digital Music Devices Expected to Double By 2003


More than half of almost 2,000 Net-savvy Americans ages 15 to 35 say they plan to purchase a digital music device over the next year, according to a new study conducted by Harris Interactive for Sony Electronics. This is a marked increase from the approximate 21 percent of the U.S. population ages 15 to 35 with Internet access that currently owns at least one digital portable audio product. “Your Musical Taste,” conducted by Harris Interactive, surveyed almost 2,000 men and women to determine how they use the Internet to download music.
