Puddle Of Mudd Line Up Tour, Radio Festivals


Ass-smacking enthusiast Wes Scantlin and his Puddle of Mudd bandmates will launch a monthlong headlining tour October 18 in Atlanta, but they’ll also take time to pay back some of the radio stations spinning their hit “Control.” Prior to the tour’s launch, Puddle of Mudd will play WAVF-FM’s Wavefest in Charleston, South Carolina, on Sunday with 311, the Long Beach Dub Allstars and others. Napster Taps Netscape Exec For VP Spot


Napster has named Claire Hough vice president of engineering. In the newly created position, Hough will manage the ongoing development of Napster’s membership service and future projects. Wilco Trot Off Reprise


Wilco’s long-rumored split with Reprise Records is official, and the Chicago-based group is actively shopping their fourth, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, in an attempt to get the record released by the end of the year. The dispute over the album began in June, when Wilco delivered a finished copy to the label and it was rejected by a pair of A&R men. The Cranberries Brew Up 'Wake Up And Smell The Coffee'


The Cranberries are gearing up to release their fifth studio album, “Wake Up And Smell The Coffee,” due from MCA Records on October 23rd. The album’s premiere single, “Analyse,” impacts radio on August 27th. Cranberries Wake Up To Tour


Ireland quartet the Cranberries, who are celebrating their tenth anniversary, are offering fans free tickets to see them on their upcoming, semi-acoustic U.S. promotional tour. The five-date tour, beginning August 14th in Los Angeles, comes a couple months before their new album, Wake Up and Smell the Coffee, hits record stores on October 23rd. Stations Refuse To Air Corporate TV Spots; Many Spots Must Run After 10pm


Orange County act Corporate Avenger is seeing controversy continue to escalate as the release of their album approaches next week. In addition to threats and angry correspondence, it now seems the liberal media won’t even stand behind the artists. MTV, Comedy Central and E! have all refused to air the Corporate Avenger TV spot in top markets such as Chicago and Phoenix due to the words “THE BIBLE IS BULL****” in succession. RealNetworks, Cisco Partner For Streaming


RealNetworks struck a deal today with Cisco Systems that the company says will enhance the distribution of its audio and video streaming technology. Under the agreement, Cisco will incorporate Real’s RealSystem Server 8 and RealSystem Proxy 8 audio and video broadcasting technology into its line of networking products. Cisco is widely considered to be the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet. The deal will help Real to market and sell its streaming software, RealSystem iQ, to Internet service and network service providers.
