The pairing of unabashed riff mongers Queens of the Stone Age and… And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead should make for a show that falls somewhere between rock and a harder place. The bands are scheduled to hit the road together beginning August 30 in Washington, D.C., according to an Interscope spokesperson. Trey Anastasio spent 17 years ripping genres apart and sticking them back together at odd angles with the everything-but-the-kitchen-sink uber-jam band Phish. So maybe it’s no surprise he’s whipped up another unusual concoction: a jam/swing hybrid dotted with sugary-sweet love songs and chamber music. The self-titled release has the elements you’d expect from Anastasio, from the drawn-out, frenetic jams to the catchy guitar riffs. Anyone familiar with the antics of Tommy Lee will have no trouble believing life on the road with the former Mötley Crüe drummer will certainly live up to the title of his forthcoming album. Lee and his band are set to beat the streets to support Never a Dull Moment, his second post-Crüe opus, in Denver, Colorado, May 24, according to an MCA spokesperson. The two-month trek, which winds down July 20 in Anaheim, California, will hit 36 cities in all. Cult rock duo Ween will put off the recording of its next studio album in favor of a summer North American tour. Dates begin Friday (April 19) in Asheville, N.C., and are booked through a June 23 appearance at the Bonnaroo Festival in Manchester, Tenn. The Foo Fighters frontman contributes a guitar line to a track off Bowie’s latest LP, due June 11, according to Bowie’s publicist.
