Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger only survived an assassination attempt by Hells Angels members nearly 40 years ago because a boat carrying his would-be killers was swamped in a storm, according to a new BBC documentary. R.E.M., Van Halen Enter Rock Hall


The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame swung open its doors Monday night to the latest batch of acts ticketed for music immortality, with the Georgia alt-rock icons and the dysfunctional Pasadena party band leading the way. Keith Richards signs up for 'Pirates'


A minor career change for the guitar legend Rolling Stones legend Keith Richards will make an appearance in the next Pirates of the Caribbean flick, the franchise’s producer has revealed. Richards famed rock and roll persona was famously the inspiration for Johnny Depp’s Academy Award-nominated role as Captain Jack Sparrow in the two previous films, and will make a cameo appearance at Sparrow’s father, it is rumoured, for the third outing. British Court Bars Broadcast of Jagger Sex Tape


London – A British judge on Wednesday banned the broadcast of video footage showing model Elizabeth Jagger engaging in “sexual activities” with her boyfriend in a nightclub. Jagger, daughter of Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger and Texan supermodel Jerry Hall, sought the injunction against John Darling, manager of Kabaret’s Prophecy Nightclub in London. How to Top a $104 Million Tour


Los Angeles/Nashville – With about 115 dates already slotted, U2’s 2005 world tour will likely surpass its last outing in capacity and dollars. The group’s 2001 tour grossed $104 million from 106 shows worldwide, according to Billboard Boxscore. The top gross was $6.4 million from four sellouts at Chicago’s United Center. The new tour, in support of the band’s Nov. 23 Interscope release, “How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb,” will start March 1 in Florida, according to the band’s manager Paul McGuinness. New York – RealNetworks, XM Satellite Radio, NCSoft and TiVo were among the big winners at the first annual Billboard Digital Entertainment Awards.
