Part 2 of my in-studio interview with Joe Trohman of Fall Out Boy, The Damned Things, With Knives. Listen to part one here. Trohman discussed his new project, With Knives; “Josh [Newton] had been working on what we was actually calling With Knives for a while – and he was just recording these really cool instrumental tracks, really cool 90’s noise rock type stuff. And I loved it. I told him, “That stuff is awesome, what’re you going to do with it?” A couple days after I told him that, he said “…do you wanna do the band with me?”… Read more »
A Beverly Hills Police Department spokesperson confirmed to E! News Tuesday that Good Charlotte frontman Joel Madden is being investigated for allegedly roughing up a woman over the weekend outside of celebrity hotspot Mr. Chow. According to TMZ.com, which first reported the incident, the woman who filed a complaint against Madden is a photographer who was trying to snap a pic of the rocker and girlfriend Nicole Richie as they left the restaurant through the back door. A police source told the Website that the paparazzo stated that Madden smacked her on the left side of her breast with the… Read more »
Joey Fatone’s decision to record an album of song parodies may seem odd, but it makes perfect sense to fellow ‘NSYNC star JC Chasez. “I thought it was the best idea in the world, because he does that anyway,” Chasez said during a break from his own solo project. “People don’t know that Joey has spoofed every song that we’ve ever recorded. Every time we go into the studio, he sings the whole song off the top of his head, a whole stupid version of the song, and makes up his own words and does all these dumb things.” The… Read more »
‘N Sync is revisiting its formative years in a one-hour video comprising previously unreleased footage from the days when the pop quintet flew coach and stayed in cheap hotels. “The Reel ‘N Sync,” shot and edited by band member Joey Fatone (news), will be released on DVD and VHS on Nov. 5, a spokesman for distributor Trauma Records said Wednesday. Fatone, currently on Broadway with “Rent” and in movie theaters with “My Big Fat Greek Wedding,” culled the clips from hundreds of hours of low-fi footage in his personal video archive. The video features no ‘N Sync songs. Instead it… Read more »
As Justin Timberlake works on his solo album and Lance Bass prepares to go into space, Joey Fatone isn’t about to be the odd man out of ‘NSYNC. For his downtime during the boy band’s hiatus, Fatone’s broadening his acting résumé to include the Great White Way – as the lead in “Rent”. “It’s very exciting,” he said. “I’ve always wanted to do Broadway…. About a year ago I went and saw ‘Rent,’ and it was really cool, and I thought it would be a cool show to do. It’s so edgy and so based on real life. It’s something… Read more »
Bad Company drummer Simon Kirke knows he should always play as if it’s being recorded, but he admits he tries a little harder when he really is being recorded. Bad Company has released a live CD and DVD this week, both called “In Concert – Merchants of Cool.” It was taped in Los Angeles and Denver. “I think I’m always aware of when the red light, the recording light, is on and I tend to try a little harder,” said Kirke. “I probably shouldn’t, but it’s just in my nature.” The CD and DVD also include the new studio song,… Read more »
Just a little over a year after dropping his multiplatinum third LP, My Name Is Joe, the album’s namesake is preparing to release a follow-up, Better Days, on December 4, his quickest album turnaround ever. “I’m at a good label now,” he said with a smile. “The freedom there is a lot better than it was before. I wasn’t happy where I was, which was Mercury [Records].” The strife caused by recording for Mercury was nothing compared to the anxiety he suffered in the wake of the September 11 attacks. On that unforgettable day, he was sitting in his new… Read more »
