Gorillaz heads the list of nominees for the 2002 Brit Awards, the U.K. equivalent of the Grammys that primarily honors homegrown talent, earning six nominations for Best British Group, Newcomer, Dance Act, Album (for Gorilliaz), and Single and Video (for “Clint Eastwood”). Cartoon band Gorillaz has been nominated for six Brit Awards – the U.K.’s equivalent of the Grammys – including best group, album and single for its hit “Clint Eastwood.” In with four nominations in the 14 categories are songstress Dido, pop phenom Robbie Williams and pop diva Kylie Minogue. Automator Talks Gorillaz Tour


Cartoon hip-hop/popsters Gorillaz are going on tour, confirming nine North American stops, beginning February 23rd in Toronto, in support of their platinum self-titled debut. Which begs the obvious question, how? “It will definitely involve big movie screens and lights,” says the band’s producer Dan “The Automator” Nakamura. “The musicians will be behind the screens and backlit onto them. Limp Bizkit, Gorillaz, Craig David Big Winners At MTV Europe Awards


Fred Durst was the undisputed star of Thursday’s MTV Europe Music Awards ceremony, accepting three awards and performing with Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page. Billboard lauds Fatboy Slim, Gorillaz


Fatboy Slim and Gorillaz took home top honors with three wins each, including best pop clip and the Maximum Vision Award, respectively, during Billboard’s 23rd annual 2001 Music Video Awards. PJ Harvey, Gorillaz and Nikka Costa are among the 10 finalists for the newly minted Shortlist Prize for Artistic Achievement in Music. Gorillaz Bag Six Berths For MTV Euro Nods


Gorillaz, the cartoon indie-beat band formed by Damon Albarn of the rock band Blur, picked up six nominations, including best group, in the eighth annual MTV Europe Music Awards noms, announced here Tuesday. It’s official – America has finally gone ape! Virgin Records America is proud to announce that music fans across the United States have gone bananas over the debut record from Gorillaz. Gorillaz Still Up For Mercury


The animated hip-pop group Gorillaz are still in the running for the Mercury Music Prize – even though they refused to accept their nomination yesterday. Gorillaz were among twelve acts to be shortlisted, but they shunned the nomination saying they would refuse to accept the award. Now the band’s record label Parlophone are saying Gorillaz are still up for it because they had put them forward for the award and only they can withdraw them.
