Goo Goo Dolls' Rzeznik Makes Chart Debut As Solo Artist


After a career spanning 15 years and featuring several hit singles with the Goo Goo Dolls, frontman John Rzeznik has entered charts as a solo artist for the first time. Rzeznik’s song, “I’m Still Here (Jim’s Theme),” from the soundtrack to Treasure Planet, has made its debut on the Billboard Adult Top 40 chart at Number 36. That actually makes two songs currently on the chart for Rzeznik-the Goos’ current single, “Big Machine,” checks in at Number 21. Goo Goo Dolls Had to Be Bad First


Before the Goo Goo Dolls ever could be a good band, they had to be a bad band, said singer John Rzeznik. Rzeznik says when members formed the band, none of them played very well. Rzeznik never took lessons and he said he was improvising as he went along. He called it an “evolutionary process.” But despite musical hits, Rzeznik said, “some people still think we’re a bad band.”

Five For Fighting to Tour With Goo Goo Dolls


John Ondrasik and his band Five For Fighting will be touring with the Goo Goo Dolls beginning June 7 in Atlantic City. The Goo Goo Dolls dates come on the heels of Five For Fighting’s headline tour which culminated May 1 with a sold-out show at the House of Blues in Los Angeles. Goo Goo Dolls Map Out Tour


Starting next month, the Goo Goo Dolls will take their gig out of the gutter. Fresh off of their top five debut on the Billboard 200 albums chart, on which the band’s latest effort, Gutterflower, entered at #4 with over 100,000 copies sold, the Goo Goo Dolls will go on a 30-date tour in support of the LP. Ashanti LP Holds #1 As Goo Goo Dolls, Neil Young Debut


For the second week in a row, Ashanti, the new princess of R&B, will lord over the Billboard 200 albums chart. Her self-titled debut sold nearly 250,000 copies, according to SoundScan figures released Wednesday (April 17), enough to keep Celine Dion’s A New Day Has Come at #2 on sales of more than 225,000 copies. Goo Goo Dolls Gearing Up For Tour


Goo Goo Dolls have begun confirming dates for a North American tour in support of their latest Warner Bros. album, “Gutterflower,” released this week. The first six dates begin May 23 in Houston and will be preceded by a May 3 show at the Astoria in London. The Goo Goo Dolls release their latest effort, Gutterflower, on Tuesday (April 9). The Goo Goo Dolls’ 1998 album, Dizzy Up The Girl, reached sales of more than 3 million copies. Goo Goo Dolls' Rzeznik Writes Solo For Forthcoming Movie


The new Goo Goo Dolls album Gutterflower is due in stores April 9, but that’s not the only project the band’s singer-guitarist Johnny Rzeznik has been involved in. The Goo Goo Dolls are in a Los Angeles studio putting finishing touches on their seventh album, Gutterflower. Band members John Rzeznik, Robby Takac and Mike Malinin have recorded twelve songs for the disc which is due out in 2002. Gutterflower is being produced by Rob Cavallo (Dizzy Up The Girl).
