Goo Goo Dolls Had to Be Bad First

Before the Goo Goo Dolls ever could be a good band, they had to be a bad band, said singer John Rzeznik.

Rzeznik says when members formed the band, none of them played very well. Rzeznik never took lessons and he said he was improvising as he went along. He called it an “evolutionary process.”

But despite musical hits, Rzeznik said, “some people still think we’re a bad band.”
