The Handmaid’s Tale & 13 Reasons Why
We’re getting serious this week, because the two shows we’re discussing are very dark, complex, and incredibly important: Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale, and Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why.
We’re getting serious this week, because the two shows we’re discussing are very dark, complex, and incredibly important: Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale, and Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why.
The Handmaid’s Tale is a dystopia that lets us see how small our individual lives become under these kinds of totalitarian regimes.
Once again, Todd McFarlane has immortalized one of the most beloved personalities of heavy metal as a detailed action figure. This time, however, it’s not a living musician he’s paying tribute to, but a character from beyond the grave. Yes, shriveled-faced, sneering Eddie – the Iron Maiden mascot – has been preserved in plastic. “With us as individuals, we’re not really interested in being made into action figures, because we’ve got Eddie,” Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson explained Tuesday. “We’ve got plenty of incarnations of Eddie to go on with for ages.” The first Eddie doll was modeled after the claw-bearing,… Read more »
Stevie Wonder was the surprise musical guest at the all-star Wave Of Peace smooth jazz fundraising show on Sunday (October 14) at the Great Western Forum in Los Angeles. His appearance prompted an already highly charged audience to leap to its feet. Accompanying himself on piano during one of the last sets of the three-hour show, Wonder launched into some straight-ahead jazz variations on “Giant Steps” before playing compositions like “Overjoyed” and “Ribbon In The Sky.” Wonder was the only previously unannounced guest on a bill packed with smooth jazz greats. The event was organized by saxophonist Dave Koz and… Read more »

There’s no doubt that Green Day is “Still Breathing” and ready to rock. In a recent interview with People, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong revealed that a popular pop-punk boy band wanted him to write them a song. But Armstrong had a different thought about it. “All of a sudden, I was writing the lyrics, and I was like, ‘Oh my God, there’s no fucking way I’m giving these guys this song,’” he says about their Revolution Radio single, “Still Breathing.” 5 Seconds Of Summer asked him to pen a track for them, however, after Armstrong saw what he created, he… Read more »

Plus, now that Mickey Mouse is in the public domain, he also made an appearance. Check out the visuals and “One Eyed Bastard” song below. “’One Eyed Bastard’ started off as just a riff that I had —… Read more »
Green Day has always been a politically charged band. It comes as no surprise that entering an election year in 2024, the trio would have something to say regarding the upcoming climate our nation will soon face. On New Year’s Eve, Green Day performed their classic hit, “American Idiot” on the televised Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve special. The group has sparked controversy with the choice to change lyrics from the original tune, which was already incredibly political to begin with. Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong changed the “American Idiot” lyrics from “I’m not a part of a redneck agenda”… Read more »
