Antonio “LA” Reid, president chief executive of Arista Records, today announced executive vice president Jerry Blair will be leaving Arista Records effective immediately. The parting is said to be amicable. Both Reid and Blair started at Arista on the same day, July 1, 2000. In a printed statement, Reid said that he wishes “much future success for Blair, a well-respected music industry veteran.” Blair said, “In the past 14 months we’ve accomplished some amazing things together and I wish everyone at Arista only the best.”

In a complaint filed this morning in Los Angeles Superior Court, David Cassidy is seeking material damages in excess of $1 million, the amount to be determined at trial, as well as exemplary and punitive damages, against Bell Records, Arista Records and Bertelsmann Music Group.
