EMI in Talks to Buy Warner Music Group


EMI Group PLC said Monday it is discussing the possibility of buying Warner Music Group from AOL Time Warner Inc., three years after European regulatory opposition ended their discussions about a possible joint venture. If there were a deal, the combined companies would become the world’s second-largest music group behind Universal. Prince to Perform at Hong Kong Festival


Prince will headline a government-sponsored music festival aimed at boosting the image of SARS-battered Hong Kong. He’ll perform at the opening of the concert series, “Hong Kong Harbour Fest,” on Oct. 17, organizers said Thursday. Top tickets for his show are priced at $127. Lawyers Probe Music File-Sharing Hunts


Lawyers for a New York woman accused of unlawfully sharing music over the Internet suggested Tuesday the recording industry acted illegally when it investigated her online activities and that a search of music files on her computer may have been unconstitutional. The lawyers – Richard S. Ugelow, Glenn W. Peterson and Daniel N. Chiming in with the “Year of the Blues” theme, Jimi Hendrix’s record label is set to release two DVDs and one CD commemorating the American Folk Blues Festival, featuring performances in the early ’60s by folk and blues masters playing to European crowds. “The American Folk Blues Festival 1962-1966” (Experience Hendrix/Universal Music Enterprises) will be released in two DVD volumes Aug. 26, as will a compilation of 16 audio highlights on one CD.
